Coating Oven Operator

Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Shift Lead Operator and reporting to the Finishing Operations Manager, the Coating Oven Operator is responsible for following procedures for Aerogel product manufacture, coating oven equipment operation and safety requirements as documented by Aspen Aerogels.

Duties:

• Follow all safety procedures.
• Visually inspect product appearance while equipment is running; communicating, flagging major defects and/or removing minor defects.
• Safely and efficiently operate the Coating Oven according to operating procedures and/or as instructed. Operations include:

Unwind

• Load roll via lift table
• Operate turret system
• Operate sewing splice system
• Operate edge trimming blades and manage trim waste
• Operate/manage automated J-box including rethreading

Coating system

• Manage product changeover in HMI based upon product specifications
• Operate waste drain system including proper waste handling
• Operate/manage buffer tank system

Oven tower

• Clean filters at determined frequency
• Work at various elevation levels including ladders and platforms
• Rethread oven using chain cantilevered threading bar

Winder

• Operate/manage automated accumulator including rethreading at elevated level
• Operate turret system
• Operate lift table (unchuck and lower roll to ground)
• Perform, if required per procedure, final inspection of coating weight
Fluid delivery system
• Load drums
• Manage drum inventory
• Prepare coating solution batch per procedure, consistently monitoring fluid levels
• Ensure pipes are cleaned and/or charged during non-running periods to ensure proper working order

• Expected to rotate and efficiently operate Oven and Fabrication equipment (slitter, CNC and laminator) according to company procedures and/or as instructed.

• Perform material handling duties in a safe, conscientious manner.

• Perform preventive maintenance and routine cleaning on equipment as per procedures and/or as directed by the Shift Leader.

• Dispose of waste materials according to company procedures.

• Follow instructions as per company policy and Shift leader instructions including proper breaks, rest periods and attendance

• Attend pre-shift meetings that occur five minutes prior to shift change Communicate all equipment issues to shift leader

Qualifications:

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull loads of up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Should have a High School diploma or equivalent.
Must have 1-3 years experience in manufacturing/chemical operations environment.
Forklift experience required, certification preferred
• Must be able to work: 12 hour shifts, 4 days on 4 days off in a 24/7 rotating shifts, including night shifts
• Must be able and available to work overtime as requested
